Welcome home, Hebronites!

We are immensely grateful to God for sustaining us on such a long journey of renovation and relocation. The disruption was keenly felt as it came just one-and-a-half years after Singapore emerged from the restrictions that we experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But it was also a time of refinement as we persevered in unity and brotherly love through the discomforts and inconvenience of not having our own premises for worship and ministry. Many Hebronites stepped up to serve others in ways too many to number. God sees such efforts and will reward them accordingly.

Naturally, the news that we now may legally occupy and use our refreshed building at No. 10 was gladly received last Tuesday. Finally, like the ancient Israelites who entered the Promised Land after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, we can come home to find our rest.

Yet our true rest is still to come. Until Jesus calls us home or comes for us, we have no doubt that God has cut out gospel ministry for us to do in Limbang and Yew Tee for another generation. Returning to No. 10 means that we resume our physical presence and witness as the body of Christ where God has situated us, to be a blessing, an asset and a contributing partner to the neighbourhood. This will be back to gospel business as usual for us.

Therefore, let us draw on the lessons of the two years of relocation and resolve to work hard together now, to build up believers and to reach out to unbelievers through God’s Word and by the power of his Spirit. In this way, we discharge the mandate that Jesus gave to us to make disciples of all nations.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” — Matthew 28:19

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” — John 15:8

As we bear much fruit and so prove that we are Christ’s disciples, God is glorified.

For Christ and his kingdom,

Ps Shin Hoe
