What Christians believe

The story the Bible
actually tells.

Christianity is not primarily a set of rules or a religion of good people trying harder. It is a true story about what has gone wrong with the world, what God has done to put it right, and how each of us must respond.

Read it as a journey
Six movements. One message.

Start at creation, move through rebellion and judgment, and then see how the death and resurrection of Jesus changes everything.

God made everything that exists: the universe, the world, and every person in it. He is good, loving, holy, and just. Because he made us, he has every right to rule us. We are not self-made, self-owned, or self-defining.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." — Genesis 1:1

Every one of us has lived as though God should not rule us. We set our own standards, trust our own wisdom, and push God to the edge. The Bible calls this sin. It is deeper than individual mistakes. It is revolt against our Creator.

"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way." — Isaiah 53:6

Because God is just, he does not shrug at evil or ignore rebellion. Sin damages our relationship with God now and places us under a judgment we cannot escape by effort, religion, or morality.

"The wages of sin is death." — Romans 6:23

God did not leave us to perish. He sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to live the life we failed to live and to die the death we deserved. At the cross, Jesus bore judgment in the place of sinners. This is grace: not help for the deserving, but mercy for the guilty.

"Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God." — 1 Peter 3:18

Three days after his crucifixion, Jesus rose bodily from the grave. The resurrection is God's declaration that Jesus is truly Lord, that his sacrifice was accepted, and that eternal life is real for those united to him by faith.

"He is not here, for he has risen, as he said." — Matthew 28:6

The Christian call is not "try harder". It is to repent, trust Christ, and come under his gracious rule. Every person lives either in self-rule or under the lordship of Jesus. The gospel presses for a response.

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved." — Acts 16:31
