Hebron BPC.
A gospel-centred community in the heart of Choa Chu Kang.
From an HDB Flat
to a Family of 800+
Over five decades, God has been faithfully writing Hebron's story — one move, one milestone, one family at a time.
A group of young adults from Mount Carmel Gospel Mission started a children's Sunday School in an HDB flat at Block 6C Margaret Drive in December 1970. Worship Services began in January 1971, and the work was officially christened Mt Hebron Gospel Mission in April 1971 — just 10 people, and a big God.
Moved in 1974 to members' home in Holland Drive, then in Shepherd's Drive. By 1977 average attendance had grown to 70. In compliance with the government's advisory on religious activities in residential properties, Hebron moved out of the house church setting in 1979 and rented Ebenezer Chapel at Minden Road for Sunday activities. Young couples were by now starting families — a children's club was started for toddlers.
When Ebenezer Chapel closed for renovations in 1983, Hebron moved to Calvary Pandan Bible-Presbyterian Church. In 1985, Hebron moved again into the new Clementi Bible Centre, occupying the afternoon slot. Members were encouraged to join cell groups for pastoral care and accountability. In 1987, Hebron's Koinonia ministry — named from the Greek word for "fellowship" — officially began.
First full-time pastor appointed in October 1988. A Mandarin Worship Service was launched in October 1990 with a dedicated full-time staff member. The church was officially registered with the Singapore Registry of Societies in October 1991 as Hebron Bible-Presbyterian Church.
After several failed bids for other HDB parcels, Hebron successfully tendered for land at 10 Choa Chu Kang Street 52 on 21 October 1993. The building — Choa Chu Kang Bible Centre — was completed and doors opened on 11 February 1996. After 25 years of wandering, Hebron finally had her own home.
Phase 2 extension added a new level 3 plus an expanded church office and many new classrooms, completed in May 2003. Church attendance grew to 500, and a second English Worship Service was launched in July 2003 to accommodate the growing church.
A generation of Hebronites responded to the call of full-time service — two pastoral workers and two missionaries were added to the work. Pastoral workers from other churches also joined the team, bringing fresh energy to Hebron's plans and programmes.
Hebron celebrated 40 years of God's provision with a year-long series of events in 2011. The climax was the restaging of the musical Give Me This Mountain on 18–19 February 2012 — retelling Hebron's story to a new generation who had never known a church without a permanent home.
The founding generation handed over the reins of leadership to a new generation. A new vision was cast: for Hebron to be "a radiant church where the gospel is actively lived in every Hebronite."
Renewal of land lease and major renovation of the church building begins. Hebronites gathered for worship at temporary locations — holding on in faith, trusting God for the next chapter.
"He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it." — 1 Thessalonians 5:24
What We Believe
Our faith stands on the historic truths of Christianity as expressed in the Reformed tradition. We hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith and its Larger and Shorter Catechisms as our subordinate standard, with the Holy Scriptures as our supreme and final authority.
We believe in the divine, verbal and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures in the original languages, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and, as the Word of God, the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
We believe in one God existing in three co-equal and co-eternal Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but sinned through the fall of Adam, thereby incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God, and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and become sinners in thought, word and deed.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died a propitiatory and expiatory death as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who repent of their sins and believe in Him are justified before God on the grounds of His shed blood.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His exaltation at the right hand of God, where He intercedes for us as our Great High Priest and Advocate.
We believe in the personal, visible return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus to judge this world and bring peace to the nations. We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, not by works, and that all who repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour are born again by the Holy Spirit and thereby become the sons of God.
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to convict and regenerate the sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.
We believe that Christ instituted the Sacrament of Baptism and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, which shall be observed by His Church till He comes.
We believe in the eternal security, bodily resurrection, and eternal blessedness of the saved and in the bodily resurrection and eternal conscious punishment of the lost.
